Fundamental to the backbone of a well-managed workforce are well drafted, employment policies (i.e. an employee handbook) covering all the necessary components for the employment relationship and underpinned by carefully drafted but plain English employment contracts.
These are the fundamentals. Don’t get caught without a clear set of base documents setting out the obligations, expectations, and entitlements of the parties in the employment relationship. They will be your first port of call for nearly every aspect of your decision making in the relationship with your employees. Time and time again, I say to clients “what does your policy say? What does your contract say?” That’s what you must start with. And if they are poorly drafted, or absent critical information, then it will, more often than not, be to the employer’s detriment, not the employee’s. Get the fundamentals right.
Probably Luke’s greatest talent is his drafting – he loves it. He has a unique ability to plain English a document yet cover the critical components needed for an employment policy or employment contract very effectively.
We have tried and tested policies and procedures and contracts of employment in our precedent bank, constantly refined and updated and improved upon over the years by Luke to give you high-quality plain English employment documentation you can use for all levels of employees, over and over again. We can also draft all types of incentive plans for you.
Luke is also very experienced in negotiation, drafting, advising upon (appropriate clauses) and certification of EBAs.
